![]() ![]() A frightful and fatal accident occurred at the railroad crossing in the west part of Lacona last Thursday evening. Fred and Anna had two children: Dean and Jean. Wayman in Lacona on Maand they moved to Missouri. Ida’s husband, Fred, was a minister in the Christian Church in Lacona, Iowa, when Ida died at age 31 from a train accident and was buried in Shupe Cemetery. They moved to Muscatine County, Iowa and had a third son, Roy Butterfield, in 1893, but he died before the age of seven. They had one son, Charles Elmer Butterfield, in 1888, then moved to Bremer County, Iowa and had Frank Earl Butterfield in 1889. Butterfield in Maukesha, Wisconsin on June 21, 1887. Ida grew up in Pennsylvania and married Fred E. Ida Viola Kline was born in Pennsylvania Jto George E. She was from Lacona and was taken there for burial. Miss Syntha Bowers died Wednesday evening at the County Home, February 1. Cynthia Bowers, who has been under the care of the county, died last Wednesday of acute pneumonia. Cynthia Ann went to live at the County Home and died Feb 1, 1899. In 1895 Cynthia Ann was 41 and still living with her mother. Elzina married Jonathan Beard in 1886, but he died in 1889. That same year, the whole family, including grandparents, Jacob and Cynthia Shupe, all moved to White Breast Township of Warren County, Iowa. When Cynthia Ann was three, her mother married Nathan Miller in Allen County, Ohio. Sadly, her father, Enoch, died less than a month after she was born. She was named after her grandmother, Cynthia Ann Shupe. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lester and Ina Dittmer and Eugene and Ethel Spaulding his niece, Josie Rae Dittmer uncles, Dwayne Spaulding and Keith Dittmer aunts, Marilyn Spaulding and Rosemary (Spaur) Dittmer.CYNTHIA “CYTHA” ANN BROWER (– Feb 1, 1899)Ĭynthia Ann Brower was born in Allen County, Ohio, the third and last child of Enoch and Elzina (Shupe) Brower. Gary is survived by his wife, Kim (Harvey) sons, Anthony and Brandon daughter, Alyssa parents, John and Janice (Spaulding) Dittmer of Milo, Iowa brother Scott (Vicki) of Runnells, Iowa sister Janie Weeks (Andy) of Milo nephews, Briar, Chase and Dawson Dittmer, and Dalton Weeks niece, Morgan Weeks (Jonathan Shaffner) parents in-law, Fred and Helen Harvey of Adams Minnesota brother-in-law, Paul Harvey (Jolyn) of Adams sisters-in-law, Peggy Merkel (Jake) of Spring Valley, Minnesota, and Mary Nagel (Ryan) of Stewartville, Minnesota nephews, Cody and Gavin Merkel and Ethan and Owen Nagel nieces, Megan and Heather Harvey. He enjoyed barbecuing for various businesses, organizations and at the Warren County Fair. He was a Director and Treasurer of the Warren County Pork Producers for over 20 years. Anthony, Alyssa and Brandon participated in 4-H activities and showed horses, cattle and swine at the Warren County Fair. ![]() ![]() He was a 4-H leader for many years for the White Breast 4-H Club. In high school, Gary was in the Warren County Senior 4-H program. Gary also enjoyed bowling with his friends in a league for many years and was the bowling coach for two years for SE Warren High School with his son Anthony on the team. His cars, all number 95, were the same number as his high school football jersey. He raced his own figure 8 race car and enduro cars. Gary enjoyed camping with family and friends, watching NASCAR and Sprint car racing. ![]()
